Bio

I’m Sam S. Julian (he/him), a designer and artist with a multidisciplinary background spanning product strategy, scalable systems, and narrative design. I focus on shaping thoughtful, accessible digital experiences that balance user needs, business goals, and long-term product vision.

I’ve led and shipped products across social platforms, mobile games, marketing ecosystems, and print, partnering closely with engineering, product, and marketing stakeholders.

I am the writer, illustrator, and publisher of the graphic novel series Octopolis. The series was a Russ Manning Promising Newcomer Award finalist at the 2025 Eisners. My work as a cartoonist is represented by Jen Azantian of the Azantian Literary Agency.

I am based in the San Francisco Bay Area, unceded Ohlone territory. Outside my design and artistic practice, I volunteer at the California Academy of Sciences as an aquarium diver. I regularly conduct public science education and art seminars, with updates shared in my newsletter.
